The following
are the four initial courses and their descriptions offered at Sausan
Academy™ of Egyptian Dance:
Primary | Secondary | Tertiary | Basic Principals | Continuing Education
Orientation:
Students desirous of studying Egyptian style belly dance must attend
a scheduled Orientation. Students attending an Orientation will become
familiarized with the expectations of the Sausan Academy™ as well
as the curriculum offered.
Primary
Course (Course outline) This 12-week course focuses solely on the movement
of the upper body and its importance in personality, aliveness, and
femininity, as well as its significance to the lower body. This course
deals with the feminine aspect of the dance, and it introduces the “pain,
passion and joy” of movement. Students attending this course must
have attended the initial Orientation.

Secondary
Course (Course outline)
This 12-week course focuses solely on the movement
of the lower body and its effectiveness in power, strength, and potency,
as well as its partnership to the upper body. This course deals with
the masculine aspect of the dance, maintaining the “pain, passion,
and joy” of the dance while introducing the “nephis”
affect – the signature to the Sausan Method of Egyptian Dance.
Students attending this course must have completed the Primary Course.

Tertiary
Course (Course outline)
This 12-week course focuses solely on learning how
to hear and interpret the music and applying specific upper and lower
body technique to specific entities of the music. Additionally, it embraces
the full use of “pain, passion, and joy” and applies the
complete “nephis” affect, which is so crucially an important
aspect of the Egyptian personality of the dance. Students attending
this course must have completed the Primary and Secondary Courses.

Basic
Principal Course: This 12-week course focuses solely on a single
popular piece of classical Egyptian music where all learned technique
and expression is applied resulting in a finished product, that being
an entire dance performance including facial as well as bodily expression
and attitude. Students will have applied the “pain, passion and
joy” concept, as well as the “nephis” affect to their
music and dance. Students attending this course must have completed
the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Courses.

Continuing
Education Principal Course: Continuing Education courses are
a continuation of additional 12-week Principal Courses where students
may add to their repertoire of Classical Egyptian music in their dance
study. Students attending any of these subsequent Continuing Education
Courses must have completed all four initial courses.
Students
are encouraged to attend additional Sausan Academy™ of Egyptian
Dance Continuing Education Principal Courses to attain and maintain
a fuller and more grounded knowledge of music interpretation and dance
movement and execution as well as its culture, cuisine, and history.
This will ensure the student a future of meaningful and superior individual
dance performance as well as the ultimate teaching ability utilizing
the Sausan Method in the arena of Egyptian style of belly dance. As
such, Sausan Academy™ of Egyptian Dance produces only the finest
of individual performers equal to that appearing on the stages of 5-star
hotels in Egypt.
