Learn to dance the way the Egyptian Greats danced in Egyptian cinema.
Uncover the secret of what makes Egyptian dancers “look”
Egyptian. Find out why it is so easy to “get” this concept
yet so difficult for most dancers to execute. Go on to experience
how to claim the stage like Taheya Karioka, express yourself like
Samia Gamal, project like Na’eema Akef, embellish your dance
with arms like Nagua Fouad, strut like Fifi Abdou, shimmy like Katie,
enjoy your shoulder shimmies like Hala el Safy, prance like Suhair
Zakhi, and more! Find out about their lives as well as the lives
of little known Egyptian Greats like Nahed Sabri, Nabaweya Moustafa,
Liz & Lyn Gamal, Suzi Khairy, and more! Learn about the great
musicians and singers like Mohammad Abd el Wahab, Abdel Halim Hafez,
Om Kolsum, Ahmad Adaweya, and others who composed the music, played,
and/or sang these classic pieces for these Egyptian Greats. In a
word, discover the “expression” of Egyptian dance.
This 7-Day Intensive combines all four 12-week courses presently
offered at Sausan Academy™ of Egyptian Dance; namely, the
Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and Basic Principle courses —
a one year time frame of study — into one thorough and comprehensive
seminar complete with detailed and specific Egyptian style dance
exercises and movements. You will take home with you tangible visual
materials delineated by the Egyptian Greats as well as audio materials,
a binder full of data, and an experience not soon forgotten!
This seminar, offered exclusively to women, is not suited for the
“beginner” level, although no one registered woman will
be turned away.
This fast paced, high level, intensive, and comprehensive colloquium
is best suited for the student whose teacher has deemed her at the
“intermediate” or “advanced” level as well
as for teachers currently studying/teaching Egyptian cabaret and
for working professionals who do not otherwise attend regular classes
and would like to get more out of their dance. This seminar is not
suited for troupe members, tribal or otherwise, but solely for the
serious and resolute individual dancer/performer focused on credibility
and authenticity of Egyptian Dance. If any of these descriptions
apply to you, and if you feel as if something “is missing”
from your dance, then this seminar is for you.
Included in the seminar’s course materials and daily instruction
by Sausan are lectures by respected guest speakers about Egyptian
culture, history, and music as well as all daily meals comprising
of continental breakfasts, catered lunches, and during open hours
formal sit-down dinners at Al-Masri restaurant with performances
by Sausan Academy™ graduates. Meals and performances are compliments
of Al-Masri restaurant; alcoholic beverages are not included. Additionally,
Al-Masri will provide transportation for attendees from a designated
location to the studio and back as well as from the designated location
to Al-Masri restaurant and back.
What
people are saying about Sausan's 7-Day Intensive Seminar:
"Her teaching of this whole look is methodical and even mathematical
at times which may sound incongruous, but it shows that her analysis
of Egyptian dance is consistent and very well thought out. The mathematical
aspect of her class gives the learner a formula to rely on when
in doubt." -Andrea, <andrea_raqs@yahoo.com> Sausan Academy
Yahoo post, 3/3/06
"I've taken workshops with MANY MANY highly-regarded dance
instructors, and had some wonderful breakthroughs in my dance, but
no other seminar has EVER put the dance into either historical or
cultural perspective so completely, given me such wonderful tools
for expressing the music or helped my brain to become more flexible
(along with my body and my movement vocabulary)"... Maggie
Evart/Maia, <mcevart@comcast.net> MED-List, 1/29/06
"You have all created a truly unique experience in presenting
the Egyptian culture through dining and dancing. I KNOW that the
complete cultural immersion experience that you provided reinforced
everything you were saying about the dance, and so freed me to absorb
and accept every word, every shimmy, every undulation and every
pickle with the love with which it was offered." "Kasmira"
<keccts@sgcglobal.net>, personal email, 1/24/06
"One of the first things one is likely to notice is that Sausan
has done her research!" -Melinda, Gilded Serpent, 8/16/05
"For those of you who would like to have an authentic Egyptian
dance experience without going to Egypt, Sausan's Intensive Seminar
is a must." -Erna Woo, The Belly Dancer Magazine, Qtr 2/05
