Sausan's two most influential teachers are Jodette Silhi Johnson of Sacramento from 1974 to 1977, and Nakish of San Francisco from 1979 to 1982.
Sausan is in the process of writing a book -- or two-- entitled Celebrating on a Scarab about her life experiences. This book, containing recipes, articles, and photos, is currently in progress. She also has developed a line of bohemian-style jewelry she sells under the name of Scaraboo, which is on display at her restaurant, Al-Masri. Instructional videos on the EDC® are currently in the making.
